We thought about finding a guide when we get to Kathmandu but we only had 2 weeks time off and wanted permits and everything sorted out as soon as we get there, so we looked for something we can arrange beforehand. We found Himalayan Local guide on the web, and Chitra was very responsive and answered all of our questions. When we arrived, he organised the permits and other neccessities, and we could start the journey the following day.
The trek itself was sensational. Amazing people, scenery, wildlife and very off the beaten track. The monastery at Nar phedi and the viewpoint near phu village deserves special mentions.
Everything went by without a glitch. Chitra’s brother, Bashanta was our guide. It was my first trek in Nepal, and to be honest the challenging terrain is a bit over my fitness level. But thanks to Bashanta I had a great time. He was supportive when the climbs get difficult, patient when I lag behind, and even brought fruit, cookies and anti-altitude sickness pills along. That, and many such thoughtful details, and his kind and cheerful outlook really makes a difference. We will be back for sure, and we’ll want Chitra and Bashanta on our side again.
