Manaslu Base Camp:  Gateway to Mount Manaslu expeditions

The Manaslu Base Camp trek was officially opened as trekking for tourists in 1992. However, the Manaslu trek is one of the restricted trekking areas in the Manaslu region, an obligation for special permits, and requires a minimum of two pax trekkers to issue the permit. 

Manaslu Base Camp Trek route:

There are two trekking routes to get to Manaslu Base Camp. Both trekking trails are magical and nature adventures.

  • Khanchok, Deurali, Gumda, Gagat, Phlim, Deng, Bhim Phedi, Namrung, Samagau and reach Manaslu Base Camp.
  • Arughat, Arkhet, Soti Khola, Machhikhola, Tatopani, Dovan, Jagat, Phlim, Deng, Bhim Phedi, Namrung, Low Ghau, Samagaun and get to Manaslu Base Camp.

Best time to get to Manaslu Base Camp:

The best time to trek the Manaslu Base camp is in spring (March, April and May) or autumn (September, October and November). During these periods the weather in the Manalsu area is normally clear, with blue skies and mild temperatures.  

In the autumn season, generally, the weather will be good and the skies will be clear, you will be able to view the white snow-capped mountains and the natural beauty of landscapes.

The trekking paths are usually dry and stable, making trekking more comfortable and pleasurable. Moreover, the autumn time coincides with the harvest period in this region, allowing the trekkers to observe traditional farming rehearsals and local celebrations in the villages along the journey.

Likewise, the springtime, from March till May is another perfect season to trek the Manaslu Base Camp.  As the winter transitions to spring, the area comes alive with vibrant colors as Nepalese national flowers of Rhododendrons and variations of wildflowers blooming.  

The weather remains mild, with daytimes will be warm and nights will be cool, making it ideal for trekking. The spring also offers the chance to spot numerous species of birds and wildlife as they appear from their winter hibernation, in addition to the attraction of the trek.

Generally, both spring and autumn season provides trekkers with outstanding weather conditions, stunning scenic and unique local culture, and traditional experiences, making them the greatest time to discover on the trip to Manaslu Base Camp. However, it's important to check weather forecasts and trekking trail conditions before heading on a journey, as weather patterns can vary especially at higher elevations in the Himalayas regions. 

Permits and Visa Fee:

To get to the Manaslu area, you have to travel in the Nepal Himalayas region. For the Indian Citizens no need to pay a visa fee to enter Nepal. However, other citizens must obtain a visa upon arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu. The Visa fees, it depends on your length stay in Nepal.

The Manaslu area is a restricted trek in Nepal and you need the special Manaslu Permits to get to the Manaslu Base Camp.

Also you need the other permits to explore the Manaslu trek. The Manaslu restricted area permit, the Manaslu Conservation Area Project (MCAP) and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP).  

The Cost of Manaslu Permits:

  • MCAP Permits 3000NPR Foreigners Country (SAARC Country 1000NPR).
  • ACAP Permits 3000NPR for Foreigners Country (SAARC Country 1000NPR).
