Top 6 Essentials Tips for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Nepal Visa: All foreign travelers need a visa to enter Nepal. Most of the trekkers can get a Nepal Visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport or at Nepal's border. You will need an original passport with at least six months of validity, passport-size photos, and a visa fee.  For more info, please visit: https://www.immigration.gov.np/

On arrival, the Visa fee

-          15 Days – 30 USD

-          30 Days – 50 USD

-          90 Days – 125 USD

Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is compulsory and must cover the medical bills and helicopter evacuation up to 6,000 meters. Please ensure that your insurance covers the emergency helicopter rescue.

Extra expense: During the trip, you will need to budget for personal expenses such as Wi-Fi, Hot showers, drinks, snacks, and souvenirs. You can make a plan for around 15 to 20 USD per day.

ATM and Bank: During the journey, you will not get ATM and Bank facilities along the way. Therefore, you should take Nepali currency from Kathmandu or Pokhara.

Safe Drinking Water: Along the trekking route, you will get the normal water from Taps and Rivers. However, we do not recommend drinking water without treatment. Also, you will get a bottle of water and boiled water at the Teahouses, but the cost will increase. We would like to encourage you to use the purification tablet or the filtering pump. After that, you can drink water.

Tipping for Guide and Porter team: Tipping the guide and porter in the Annapurna Base Camp trek might be convenient when you are trekking with a group because every trekker can collect the amount and distribute it among the guide and porter team. If you are unsure about how much to tip exactly, we recommend tipping per head a minimum of 100 USD. If you are more satisfied with their services, as you wish.

We planned for Annapurna Base Camp for my first visit to Nepal. Our guide was chitra and porters Bashanta & Sobit Tamang friendly and willing to let me dwell on the local cuisines, typical traditions and even legends from around the places. He was also very understanding of our walking pace and never quick us along the journey. Thank you, Himalayan Local Guide for appointed the wonderful guide and porters’ team.

Chitra is one of the best treking guides I have ever met. He’s a real professionalist and he can tell you everything you ask. I spent really great time in Nepal with Chitra as my guide and Om and Lal Porters I will never forget it. He organized Annapurna Base Camp Trek, everything perfectly and he was always very kind and friendly what made the adventure even more amazing. I strongly recommend going for a trek with this guide - you won’t regret it!
