The main highest point located at Base Camp is 4130meters.
It is a moderate trek and normally, we have to walk for 7 to 12 days.
The Ghorepani Poon Hill combined with the Annapurna Base Camp 11-day trek can be done throughout the year. However, the best times to discover the trek are autumn and spring. Autumn runs from September to November, and spring from March, April, and May.
Additionally, in the spring, the weather is generally stable with suitable temperatures, and the sky will be clear. In this period, you will have a chance to observe the numerous flowers blooming and wildlife thriving around the Himalayas. Especially, you can see the National flower of rhododendrons in white, pink, and red.
During autumn, temperatures become cooler, but the weather will be ideal, and the vegetation around the Himalaya will be in full bloom. From mid-December onward, temperatures become colder and snowfall above 2000 meters, we do not recommend high-pass treks in Nepal. So, if you are considering exploring the rural valley of Nepal. You can hike to Poon Hill with the Annapurna Base Camp trek, which is the perfect destination in Nepal.
Along the trek route, you will be staying at tea houses/lodges. You will stay in comfortable, basic rooms with a bed sheet, pillow, blanket, and mattress. But at the low altitudes trek route, you may get the best room with an attached bathroom.
Nutritious food is essential during the trek. We ensure you will get nutritious and hygienic meals throughout the trip. However, the food options are limited compared to Kathmandu and Pokhara. We will provide 11 breakfasts, 10 lunches, and 9 dinners during the trek. All meals during the trek are provided on a full-board basis (B+L+D): Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
We chose the best tea houses/lodges that offer fresh, hygienic, tasty, and nutritious meals. Our Guide will provide a menu and select food items such as European, Chinese, Indian, and Nepali dishes. You need to try popular Nepali dishes, mainly Dal Bhat Tarkari with Curry and Pickle, Momo, Chow Mein, Thukpa, Spaghetti, Chapatti, Noodle soup, and a variety of food items.
We recommend fresh vegetables and sufficient drinks like lemon tea, ginger tea, green tea, and garlic soup at high elevations. These may help reduce the risk of altitude sickness. Through the trek, Non-vegetarian food is also available at the trekking route, but we do not recommend these dishes, as they might not be fresh. We also suggest you avoid alcoholic drinks in the high altitude region.
All Personal bills like alcoholic drinks, tea, coffee, and cold drinks in lodges, cafes, or restaurants. It is not included in the package trip; you should pay for it yourself.
The gateway to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Poon Hill starts from Nayapul, which is a drive from Pokhara. However, the road is open till the Ulleri and Banthanti, but the road is unpaved and bumpy. We recommend that you walk from Nayapul, then follow the roadside and sometimes short trekking trails that lead you through various delightful villages and dense forests to Ghorepani, Tadapani, Chhomrong, Sinuwa, Bamboo, Dovan, Himalaya, Deaurali, and M.B.C and reach the A.B.C.
The trek can be diverse; however, most of the trekkers conclude this trek within 10 to 12 days. The necessary actual time for the trek depends on your walking pace and the particular program you prefer. But if you are mentally and physically fit, you may complete this trek in 8–9 days if you are physically fit to explore this trek route.
This trek takes you through a variety of elevations. The altitude ranges from 830 meters in Pokhara to 4,130 meters at Annapurna Base Camp at Annapurna Base Camp. As we travel along the journey route, ascending and descending, it allows for acclimatization and minimizes the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Even though you must take care of high-altitude sickness and alleviate the risk, get plenty of rest, stay hydrated, and eat a balanced diet.
Travel insurance is not mandatory for the Annapurna Base Camp and Ghorepani Poon Hill trek, but we highly recommend purchasing travel insurance for additional safety and peace of mind. If you are going to purchase travel insurance. You can ensure that the travel insurance covers the medical bills and helicopter rescue.
Poon Hill is one of the most popular viewpoints along the Annapurna trekking trails, and it’s known as the one of the best viewpoints for sunrise and sunset of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. Most trekkers spend one night at Ghorepani to enjoy the sunrise from Poon Hill before hiking on their trip to ABC. If you are passionate about the miracle mountain views, we recommend you visit Poon Hill at sunset, where you will be able to escape the crowd of people in the beauty of Nature.
We provide an expertly trained guide and porters for your trek. Our Guide will help you in every possible way to make your journeys outstanding and memorable. We provide one porter for every two trekkers. A Porter will carry your luggage, a maximum of 10 kg per trekker or less.
I recently completed the Ghorepani Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp trek with Himalayan Local Guide, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. The entire journey was incredibly well organized, and the agency demonstrated a high level of professionalism from start to finish.
A special mention goes to my guide, Basantha, who truly made this trek unforgettable. He was always kind, attentive, and ready to help in any situation. Whether it was adjusting the pace, offering encouragement during more challenging sections, or simply making sure everything was running smoothly, Basantha was consistently supportive and reliable.
His deep knowledge of the region, combined with his genuine care for my well-being, made me feel safe and comfortable throughout the trek. I always felt that I was in good hands.
I highly recommend Himalayan Local Guide to anyone looking for a well-organized trekking experience in Nepal, and if you have the chance, ask for Basantha as your guide—you won’t regret it!
