Best time to Pikey Peak

Trekking to Pikey Peak is achievable for whole years. However, the Pikey Peak is autumn (September, October, and November) and spring (March, April, and May) is the best month to trek. During this period, the weather is ideal, with crystal clear sky and breathtaking mountain views.

Accommodation facilities during the Pikey Peak trek

During the Pickey Peak trek, you will receive basic accommodation and stay in tea houses or lodges. The lodges and tea houses are mostly run by local communities. Most of the lodges offer a cozy and clean room with two or more beds, blankets, pillows, mattresses, bed covers, etc. The hotel owners are friendly with their warm hospitality.

 

The Toilet and bathrooms are mostly shared with other travelers. You can also get a shower facility from Gas or Solar, but you have to pay an extra cost. Your experience will be memorable as you will also get an opportunity to meet domestic and international trekkers and have sharing interactions, which makes the trip more enjoyable.

Meals

The lodges/tea houses along the trek routes of Pikey Peak offer various Nepali and Western dishes. The most famous dish, which is served in almost all lodges, is Dal Bhat which comes from (Rice, Lentil soup, Vegetable, Papad, and pickle). Dal Bhat gives more energy and fulfillment and it is also favourited by many travelers.

In addition, the lodges also serve European, Italian, Chinese, and Indian dishes as well like Thukpa, fried rice, bread, noodles, spaghetti, macaroni, pizza, burger, Mo: Mo, Chau wemin, pasta, chapatti, toast with jam/honey, oat porridge, banana and apple pancake, boiled and fried eggs.

Safe Drinking water

The Everest region you will get normal water from the Tap or river. This water you must to use purification medicine or filtering hand pump, also you get boiled and bottle of water are available at lodges. While you hiking in the mountains regions, you should drink normally 4 to 5 liters of per day.

Internet facilities

During the trekking route, internet facilities are available in the lodges/teahouses along the trail. However, you will have to pay an additional to use the internet services. Most of the lodges have Wi-Fi routers, and they may charge around 300 to 500 NPR for internet. Moreover, internet facilities are available, which will help you to communicate and stay in touch with your family and friends.

Pikey Peak trek difficult level

It is rated as a moderate trek because it requires less stamina and less chance to expose the risk of high altitude sickness. You'll climb from 1350 to 4060 meters, which is almost as low an altitude gain of 4060 meters. You must walk for a minimum of 6 to 7 hours a day. This trip is one of the most moderate during the trek. But it may chance of getting altitude sickness if you are not alert.

AMS – Acute Mountain Sickness

Acute Mountains Sickness (AMS) or an altitude sickness is one of the risks even as traveling in the high an elevation.   • Do not walk very fast in the high altitude.
  • Walk a slowly on the high elevations and keep walking.
  • Do not walk alone on the way.
  • Inform your guide as soon as if got any high altitude sickness.
  • Drink very much boiled water and hot tea.
  • Take a garlic soup and Ginger tea; it is high altitude sickness medicine

Passport and Visa

Travelers/trekker’s to Nepal will need to make a visa when you arrived at Tribhuvan international Airport or you can get a visa from your country of Nepal embassy. Most of the traveler’s will be able to get upon arrival visa at the Kathmandu Airport. Please kindly make sure that your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of your arrival, begins with the date that you enter the Nepal. You must also bring the extra Passport size photos of you.

Trip starting and End Point

Pikey Peak trek starting point is Dhap Bazaar or, Shivalaya, and ends at Phaplu or Dhap Bazaar. It depends on your time frame. You will take a local jeep ride from Kathmandu to Dhap Bazaar. It will take 7 to 8 hours to reach the Dhap from Kathmandu. The views of passes through the typical villages, rocky mountains, and rivers can be seen along the journey and reach Dhap Bazaar. The trek starts from the next day morning after the breakfast.

 

You will trek continue across the places like Jhapre, Bhulbule, Lhamhje, and Pikey Peak Base Camp and then reach the final destination of Pikey Peak. After visiting Pikey Peak, we return to the same trekking trail to Dhap Bazaar and drive back to Kathmandu.
